Spencer Slown

So yesterday I (Spencer) wanted to know how fast (or slow) I could run a 40 yard dash. So steph and I went over to Brighton high school's football field.

Now, before I tell you my time let me give you something to compare this to. Really fast College and pro football players run a 40 yard dash in about 4.4-4.5 seconds. The fastest I've heard of is a 4.3.
Good 6-5 300 lineman can run the 40 in 4.9-5.2 seconds.
Now, I'm going to try and blame the time on my Graves Disease. After Stephanie took 3 times and we averaged them out I run a 40 yard dash in ........6.5 seconds! My name should be Spencer Slown!
So, my goal now is to train and see if I can improve. My high goal is to run a 4.7 40 and the goal I want to at least obtain is a 5.o 40 yard dash.
I will keep my times posted here every week or two.

Spencer here. I went backpacking to Lone Peak two weekends ago with the Jacobs, Todd, Corey, and Lindsay.
I have postponed posting about this experience because of the trauma I have had from it.

We started Friday Afternoon in the blazing sun. Halfway up "Jacobs Latter" my right heel started to rub raw from my shoe. I finally cut the back of my shoes out because my heels were in so much pain I couldn't go any further. You can see the bandages but I saved you from seeing how gross and painful my heels were.

Because of my Graves disease my heart races at about 100-120 beats per minute when resting. My body was already using up oxygen quikly so it got way worse once we got to 10,000-11,000 feet. The air was thin and my body needed oxygen! I could only go about 10 yards and I would have to rest for 5 minutes then go another 10 yards. HORRIBLE.

We finally got to camp right before it was dark. We were all defeated physically and mentally. I thought we were all going to cry! Because of the thin air and my Graves disease my heart was racing! And I was real jittery. I only slept for about 1 -2 hours!

I need to redeem myself so I think I'll go again next year.

Memories

Let's Take A Walk

Down memory Lane...I feel like this is really fun. I hope you will play along. Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses.

Divine Principle Of Free Agency
I appeal to every Latter-day Saint to accept the divine principle of free agency and to adopt it in his life. I appeal to you to remember this principle when you are confronted by organizations and groups and movements in this country, which are now arising and assuming great power. Before you become engulfed in them, measure their practices and their purposes by the measuring rod of free agency, and you remember that God said it is not right that any man should be in bondage one to another. Remember, also, what Richard Evans told you yesterday, that it is not right that we should be commanded in all things, and don't you allow yourself to be commanded in all things by any group or agency. You preserve the free agency that God has given to you, because if you don't you will suffer all the days of your life.
You remember that you are to be true to the Constitution of the United States. I appeal to you to accept as the word of God, the declaration that appears in the revelation in section one hundred one of the D&C, wherein the Lord says he did raise up men and inspired them to write the Constitution. I appeal to you, every one, to be true to the trust that God has placed in you, to preach the gospel throughout the world, as has been declared here today. But remember that you cannot preach that gospel without freedom of speech, and you cannot publish that gospel without freedom of the press, and you cannot gather together in congregations without freedom of assembly, and you cannot worship the Lord your God according to the dictates of your own conscience without freedom of religion. And remember that every time you give up any of your freedoms, whether it be to some economic or political group, or to any other group, you jeopardize these four freedoms of which I have spoken.
I appeal to you to accept as the word of God that which I have quoted to you which says that you, the elders of Israel, are justified by God in defending your constitutional privileges. Remember that you have a responsibility to preserve freedom in America. Remember always the glorious prayer that is written into the last stanza of "America" which was sung so beautifully this morning by the Tabernacle choir.
Our father's God! to thee,Author of liberty,To thee we sing;Long may our land be brightWith freedom's holy light!Protect us by thy mightGreat God, our King.
I pray that we may have the courage and the wisdom to accept the truth, that the truth may keep us free, and I ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.

Philosophy of Liberty

Spencer here. Since we won't have a child to post about until November, and since I love Liberty and the principals of Liberty, I will be posting some of the video's qoutes and articles that I like.

I hope you will enjoy and learn. This is one of my all time favorite short videos. It explains the basic principals of Liberty. Our founders knew them and we seem to forget them as a Nation.

This video is great! You may want to pause the playlist so you can hear the music from the video. And you can make it full screen as well.
