We have been trying out a new Olympic event. We have moved on from Diving and now we are going to be Olympic gold medalists in badminton. The birdie only got stuck in the rackets a few times and a few went over the fence but other than that we are well on our way.

It has been a while since I put pictures on the blog so I will post our pictures of our adventures for July.

For the 4th of July we went camping with the Sundberg Family. Spencer was king of the fire as usual and I was just trying my hardest not to be eaten alive by the bugs. We also made some new friends while we were up there. Spencer fed the little animals and then they would not leave us alone.

For the 24th of July we went to Logan with the Sloan family. We went swimming a ton and Spencer, Jenny and Tanner held the Olympic diving competition all were very strong competitors it is hard to say who won. We also went mini golfing and I got a hole in one. It was awesome.

Update: My 40 yard dash is down from a 6.5 to a 6.25. I'm making progress. I will credit my increase in speed to Vitamin D. Being deficient really made me weak. I am starting to feel my strength come back.
I'll time my self again in another 2 weeks or so.

Since I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency I have been reading all I can about it. Did you know that Vitamin D is not a Vitamin at all? It is a hormone. And after reading about it I cant believe its not more popular.
Do you remember in the 60's and 70's when East Germany and the Soviet Union were dominating in the Olympics? Well part was due to Steroids, but a big part of their success was due to their knowledge of Vitamin D and athletic performance. The Germans had big sunlamp rooms where Soldiers and athletes would "tan" . The Vitamin D would then be made in the skin and sent to the blood stream.
Here is what Wikipedia says about Vitamin D:

"Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble prohormones, the two major forms of which are vitamin D2 (or ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (or cholecalciferol).[1] The term vitamin D also refers to metabolites and other analogues of these substances. Vitamin D3 is produced in skin exposed to sunlight, specifically ultraviolet B radiation.

-Vitamin D plays an important role in the maintenance of organ systems.[2]
-Vitamin D regulates the calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood by promoting their absorption from food in the intestines, and by promoting re-absorption of calcium in the kidneys.
-It promotes bone formation and mineralization and is essential in the development of an intact and strong skeleton. However, at very high levels it will promote the resorption of bone.
-It inhibits parathyroid hormone secretion from the parathyroid gland.
-Vitamin D affects the immune system by promoting phagocytosis, anti-tumor activity, and immunomodulatory functions. "

Vitamin D is not found in sufficent amounts in food. You need to get sunlight. But avoid more than 30 minutes a day without sunscreen. (Moderation in all things)

The issue of REAL money (Gold and Silver) is so important to me. It seems as though no one talks about the federal reserve debasing our currency and therefore our savings. Here is what Alan Greenspan said about inflation and Gold before his inflation days at the FED.

"The law of supply and demand is not to be conned. As the supply of money increases relative to the supply of tangible assets in the economy, prices must eventually rise. Thus the earnings saved by the productive members of the society lose value in terms of goods. When the economy’s books are finally balanced, one finds that this loss in value represents the goods purchased by the government for welfare or other purposes with the money proceeds of the government bonds financed by bank credit expansion.

In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. If there were, the government would have to make its holding illegal, as was done in the case of gold."

I talked about how slow I am earlier. I can feel it when I run. My mind believes I should be running faster because my body has been for years. Also I have noticed when I throw the football around that I cant throw as hard, fast or as far as I used to. Well, I believe I found the answer, and it might be linked to Graves disease.
My my nurse practitioner (because my doctor was to lazy or stupid) that my vitamin D levels have been low for the last few months. (thanks doctor for noticing)
I went home looked up vitamin D deficiency and this is what I found: "Studies have found that people with low levels of vitamin D have reduced leg extension power, handgrip strength, ability to climb stairs, and ability to walk distances." That would probably explain Lone Peak!!

So the nurse practitioner gave me a prescription for vitamin D. 50,000 iu. The recommended daily dose is 400 iu. So I am taking about 12,500% daily value of vitamin D. Wow.
Low vitamin D levels have also been linked to autoimmune disorders like Graves disease!
Thanks Doc for telling me!!! or not telling me!!!! I had to look this up myself on Mayo clinic and other reputable sites.
I don't need doctors anymore. No offense Todd and Paul.
Now I wait and see if my strength returns.
No wonder I feel like Jeff, Colin, Stephanie and my sister Jenny are unusually strong lately.
